The Structure of the Curriculum

The Ho'ike o Haleakala curriculum is divided into modules, units, and activities. The activities are the individual lesson plans that make up units. A unit is a collection of activities on the same topic and within the same module. Each of the four modules cover a discrete ecosystem of Haleakala.

For example, if you want to find an individual lesson on coastal erosion, you would look in the "Coastal" module to find the unit "Beach Today, Gone Tomorrow" and the activity "Causes and Consequences of Erosion."

  • Modules - divisions of discrete ecosystems of Haleakala (Example: Coastal Module)
    • Units - topics pertaining to that ecosystem (Example: Beach Today, Gone Tomorrow?)
      • Activities - lesson plans for each unit (Example: Causes and Consequences of Erosion )
