PBIN has partnered with local educational and cultural groups to support the integration of western and traditional environmental science and technology into K-12 public education and Hawaiian studies programs.
The Digital BusThe Digital Bus is a mobile science and technology lab supporting K-12 schools and community organizations throughout Maui Nui. As a part of the Hawaii Source Education Outreach program, this mobile learning platform offers field-based, engaging science projects at outdoor locations and at school sites.
PBIN staff have participated in many Digital Bus projects. We have trained program leaders and participants in the use of GIS and GPS technology, led field trips into the Waihee Preserve, and given lectures and presentations to K-12 teachers participating in the Digital Bus BWET program.
