Collections of information made available through PBIN
Taxonomic Authority Database
This database was created by the Bishop Museum under contract from PBIN to serve as the species name authority for the Pacific Basin. The Taxonomic Authority Database forms the core of the services of ITIS Pacific. Users can search for specimen and location information. Database includes references to naming authorities, as well as images of specimens.
Cook Island Biodiversity Database
This database was created by Dr. Gerald McCormick to catalog the diverse life in the Cook Islands. The Cook Islands Biodiversity Database allows users to search for information about an organism. Data includes scientific name, common name, species description, life characteristics, cultural significance and, when available, images and geographic distribution.
Hawaiian Forest Bird Interagency Database
This database was created by the Hawaiian Forest Bird Interagency Database Project to collect, compile, proof, and standarde data from over 400 forest bird surveys conducted throughout Hawaii by 22 different agencies and organizations over the past quarter century. The Hawaiian Forest Bird Interagency Database contains a comprehensive inventory of all forest bird census data collected since the mid-1970s in a centralized, standardized, relational database. The database functions are: 1) data storage; 2) facilitation of data processing; and 3) assistance with analyses.
World Data Center for Biodiversity and Terrestrial Ecology
This database is the result of an ongoing collaborative effort between US science centers, state, educational and private programs. The World Data Center for Biodiversity and Terrestrial Ecology collects biodiversity and ecology data throughout the US and strives to make it available to users worldwide. This information includes land cover (vegetation mapping, gap analysis), species information, regional information throughout the U.S., national level data and information related to bird conservation, invasive species, fisheries and aquatic resources, wildlife disease, and amphibian declines.
NAS-HI
Nonindigenous Aquatic Species of Hawaii provides distribution maps of nonindigenous aquatic species in Hawaii. Users can search by species name, status, introduction pathway, and habitat.
Snake Sighting Database
This project was developed in conjunction with Non-Indigenous Aquatic Species Project. The Snake Sighting Database allows users to track incidents of snakes being sighted in the Hawaiian Islands. This database supports early detection and control activities against snakes.
NBII Metadata Clearinghouse
The NBII Metadata Clearinghouse provides users access to an extensive collection of metadata references to biological and ecological information. Consider it a giant biology card catalog.
